Day-01: Arrival in Ahmedabad

On arrival at Ahmedabad airport, you would be received and transported to the hotel. Ahmedabad is the main hub of the contemporary and traditional textiles. Few crafts flourish in Ahmedabad as block-printing and the narrative cloth paintings of Mata-Ni-Pachedi. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day-02: Ahmedabad

Today, take a tour of the leading specialized textile museum of India ‘Calico Museum’. Calico Museum has the rich collection of textile swatches of Indian origins which are found at famous sites of archaeological in Egypt, Sarees of silk from the throughout India, the silk sarongs of double-ikat prepared at Patan especially for the markets of Indonesian, curtains and chintz completed during the Dutch, Portuguese and British colonial reign at Gujarat, Punjab’s floral embroidery, famous Kashmiri shawls, tie-and-dye work of 18th of century, opulently embroidered tent of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan that palace is located very close, Rajasthan’s royal attires, manuscripts and paintings on the cloths, spiritual description in the paintings of clothes known as Kalamkari and Pichwai. Later, visit the few other museums of Ahmedabad based on folk art collection. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day-03: Ahmedabad – Gondal (250 Kms)

In the morning, leave Ahmedabad for princely place Gondal. Gondal has considerable significance and prosperity. Later, take a sightseeing tour of 1740 AD Naulakha Palace to see the superb collection of former rulers as textiles, beadwork, toys painted by hands, crafts of silver, Brassware and the excellent carvings. Also, visit the place that promotes the weaving in Gondal and a few historic buildings. In the evening, take a tour of Rabari and Bharwad villages’ located near to Gondal. Stay overnight at a heritage hotel which is fabulously decorated by the rich textile collection of the erstwhile ruling family of Gondal.

Day-04: Gondal – Junagarh – Gondal

Today, take an excursion to Junagadh for viewing the carpets of gem-encrusted, the Nawab’s tapestry in the museum and wardrobes. Historical Junagadh is known for its 03rd of century (BC) Buddhist ruins, the medieval palace, complexes of tombs and the forts. Stay overnight in Gondal.

Day-05: Gondal – Rajkot – Bhuj (259 Kms)

Transfer from Gondal to Bhuj visiting Watson Museum in Rajkot on the way to see the skills of the craftsmanship in Gujarat and Rashtriya Shala. Finally arrive in Bhuj, check in to the hotel.

Day-06: Bhuj

Take the excursion to the villages near to Bhuj. Visit rustic Hindu groups as the Rabaris and Ahirs. Also see the traditional Islamic communities as the Jaths and Muthwas. Take a tour of the groups of artisans namely Meghwals. There are also Sodha Rajputs refugees came from the area called Thar Parker in Pakistan and the embroidery techniques of these groups is must watch. Return to Bhuj for stay overnight.

Day-07: Bhuj

Visit few more villages near to Bhuj. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day-08: Bhuj – Mandvi (60 Kms)

In the morning, transport towards the center of tie and dye “Mandvi”. Arrive at Mandvi and check into a beach resort. After lunch, you would be taken for a sightseeing tour of the yard of the dhow-building to visit the boat of ocean worthy made by the hands. Stay overnight at Mandvi.

Day-09: Mandvi

Today, take a tour to the villages nearby Mandvi, famous for the charming houses known as Rabari and Bhungas embroidery. Also, visit a village of Samma in Pragsar. Stay overnight in Mandvi.

Day-10: Mandvi – Dasada (320 Kms)

Transport to Dasada for visiting the beautiful old villages and towns on the way. Arrive at Dasada and take a tour of Vadiara, Rabaris, Jaths, Mirs, Kharapat and Bajanias communities. Stay overnight in the jungle resort. Here you will use locally prepared materials and handicrafts which make you feel like in a village.

Day-11: Dasada – Patan – Danta (200 Kms)

Take a drive to Patan for viewing the Salvis working in Patola which is regarded as silk textile of finest quality. See, how the weaving work carries with the Double-ikat techniques. Further, view the Modhera’s Sun Temple, Jain Temples of Taranga and so on. Reach and spend the night in Danta which is surrounded by the Tribal peoples of Bhils.

 

Day-12: Palanpur – Danta – Poshina (70 Kms)

Leave Danta to head towards Poshina early morning. Visit the villages of tribes called Garasia nearby Poshina place. Moreover, hang on to a shrine of Garasia and Bhil tribal people. Spend overnight in Poshina place.
 

Day-13: Poshina – Ahmedabad (180 Kms)

Leave Poshina for Ahmedabad and visit Gujarat Vidhyapith’s Tribal Research Institute Museum and Folk Museums of Shreyas as well. Spend the night over here.
 

Day-14: Departure

Depart towards any other preferred choice of Destination of onward journey.
